DON'T MISS THESE PROGRAMS

"THE BUSINESS OF CURLING"
CLUB MARKETING & MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

SPORT MANAGEMENT FOR THE NEW MILLENIUM

Are you wondering what is happening or what is not happening in your club? Are you still doing the same things today you were doing 10 years ago? If you are, you may want to remember these words.

IF YOU'RE DOING WHAT YOU ALWAYS DID,
YOU'LL GET WHAT YOU ALWAYS GOT!

In today's uncertain economic environment, the need for sporting organizations to adopt sound management and practices has never been greater. To assist Curling Clubs to become strong small businesses the Canadian Curling Association developed the Business of Curling Program.

The Business of Curling Program - a three phase marketing and management program - allows you to assess your curling club's position, plan your strategies and deliver exciting programs.

Curl Atlantic delivers the Business of Curling Program to the Curling Clubs in the Atlantic Region.

"INTERMEDIATE CURLING CLINIC FOR ADULTS"

Curl Atlantic has identified membership retention as one of the key issues facing Curling Clubs across the Atlantic Region. Each year new curlers join clubs, attend novice clinics, play for the year - and only a few return the following season. Novice clinics teach the basics to the first year curlers. Very few curling clubs organize intermediate clinics for their returning members.

Hosting intermediate clinics for club members is a proactive move by Curling Clubs to address the issue of member retention.

Intermediate clinics are one means to facilitate the skill development of adult curlers and to maintain their interest in the sport of curling.

Curl Atlantic will organize and coordinate Intermediate Clinics which will meet the needs of your curling members. Intermediate clinics can vary from 4 hours to as long as 12 hours. They can be handled in one day or run over two days. National level instructors will be brought in to lead the clinic with the assistance of Provincial and Local Instructors. The participants and club instructors will be exposed to new training techniques, drills and strategy for curling.

An information package outlining details on the above two programs was mailed to all New Brunswick curling clubs in August 2001.

The Sandra Schmirler Foundation is proud to promote
Sandra Schmirler Day on February 23, 2002.

On February 23, 2002, curling clubs are asked to open their doors to the public. This day will be "Sandra Schmirler Day" on opening day of the Scott Tournament of Hearts.

On this day the Olympic Winter Games will also just be ending and the profile of the sport will be the highest of the season. We can reach a number of goals on this day:

We are asking curling clubs to set some time aside on this day for a special campaign. If you have another event scheduled, just work out an hour or two that could accommodate the project.

For information on the Sandra Schmirler Foundation visit:
